Lameness Therapy

Cleveland Equine Clinic offers the following therapies as needed:

Shockwave therapy is a method of treatment well-recognized for its ability to stimulate the healing process for various orthopedic injuries.

Interleukin-1 Receptor Antagonist Protein ( IRAP) treatment utilizes progressive gene therapy to combat osteoarthritis in horses. The procedure begins with drawing blood from the horse into a syringe, which is specially prepared with glass beads that stimulate production of the anticoagulant. The blood is harvested, incubated and centrifuged to separate the plasma (abundant with IRAP) from the blood. The plasma is then reinjected into the horse's arthritic joint.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a process where plasma is harvested from the horse's own bloodstream and processed to increase concentration of platelets. The final solution is high in various growth factors beneficial to healing tendon and ligament injuries. Stem Cell therapy is a also available for use in healing tendons.

Mesenchymal Derived Stem Cell Therapy is a procedure whereby fat tissues removed surgically and stem cells are harvested then used to treat tendon, ligament and joint injuries.
