Alex S. Mullen, DVM

Dr. Alex Mullen grew up in a small town near Youngstown, Ohio, where his family still raises Clydesdale horses. They raised three or four foals each year and Dr. Mullen showed Clydesdales locally and nationally, and even trained horses, staring 2 and 3-year-olds for others. His father was a farrier and he and his brother would help by pulling or nailing on shoes.

He graduated from Hiram College before attending the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduating in 2007. While attending college Dr. Mullen planned to pursue a career in medicine, however, while shadowing and visited hospitals he realized he wanted to pursue a medical career treating animals, not humans. During a veterinary school externship he worked with Dr. Genovese as well as Dr. Berthold, and decided to pursue his profession at Cleveland Equine Clinic.

Dr. Mullen is a member of the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Equine Practitioners, and Northeast Ohio Equine Practitioners Assn. He enjoys most areas of equine practice, particularly sports medicine, reproduction and dentistry. Dr. Mullen is engaged to be married and resides in Bainbridge.
